Foundations of Body Image Work:

Ethical & Weight-Inclusive Care for Clinicians

Body image concerns are common in clinical practice, yet many clinicians receive little formal training on how to understand and respond to them ethically and effectively. Clients may present with shame, avoidance, comparison, or distress related to their bodies — even if they don’t meet criteria for a formal diagnosis.

This beginner-level course provides clinicians with a foundational understanding of body image concerns as they commonly present in practice. Emphasis is placed on ethical considerations, sociocultural influences, developmental factors, and weight-inclusive frameworks and focuses on conceptual clarity and understanding rather than treatment interventions. This training is designed to increase your clarity and confidence when body image concerns arise — without requiring specialization in eating disorders or work outside your scope.
